Yesterday I started receiving unwanted emails to my gmail account from businesses and bloggs literally hundreds of them, many from ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ How can this have happened, I haven’t even published my site yet?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The domain registration information for naughtyhaggis.com, which includes your email address, is freely available to anyone, including spammers. You may wish to contact your domain registrar and change to private registration.
Here’s info about public vs. private domain registration: https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/#public-versus-private

Thanks. I followed that link and now I remember why I stayed away from this for so long. I don’t have a degree in computing nor do I have the patience to mess around with this. The domain in question used to be looked after by Domain.com and I never got any spam nor did I pay anything extra to have my address concealed. WordPress or Bluehost or whichever entity has control of my data is clearly amateur.

Only Staff can edit, close or delete threads on these support forums. That is why I tagged this thread to have the WHOIS link removed. Please be patient while waiting for their support.

Perhaps I misunderstand you. You want the whole conversation removed or just the bit about the WHOIS? In the meantime will you tell me how to get my email out of that thing so I can hopefully stop receiving all that spam.

Hi naughtyhaggis,
In the meantime will you tell me how to get my email out of that thing so I can hopefully stop receiving all that spam.
The domain is registered through FastDomain so you will need to speak to them about making changes. It should be possible to hide your contact details by adding private registration to the domain.
As the domain isn’t registered through us, I don’t have access to it and can’t make any changes, but I can point you in the right direction :)
