spam referrers?
-
I am new to blogging. This wordpress blog is the only one I have. Are spam referrers just the norm? I seem to have on going problems with spam referrers. They did briefly stop, but are happening again. It is frustrating trying to differentiate between real visits to your blog, and fake ones.
I guess my question is more general really – are spam referrers just “normal” in blogging, like spam in your e-mail inbox? No way to totally avoid it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, spam referrers are common, just like spam comments, but a little bit less frequent.

I have the same problem, which is why I came to the forum. Something like ‘adakukisah – tips on how to make your wordpess etc’.
It’s really frustrating!!
Does reporting these sites to WordPress administrators make any difference??

I’ve noticed a suddent upsurge in spam referrers in the last 7 days – hardly ever used to have any, and suddenly i’m getting loads, all from URL shortening sites – ow.ly, bit.ly, twurl.nl, short.ie, adjix.com, snipr.com & tiny.cc – is there anything I can do about this?

@itinerantlondoner: Yes, send them to staff at support@wordpress.com (since the contact form is closed for another couple of days)
