Spam Registrations
-
I am receiving a large number of spam registrations from Russia and Eastern Europe. They then change their passwords. I have trashed my donation pages in case they try to access my bank details. What is their likely purpose and how do I stop this?

Hey there!
At the moment you’re posting at the community where we can only help with sites hosted on WordPress.com servers. It looks like your site seniorsfuturetech.com isn’t hosted on WordPress.com servers, instead, it’s using the open-source software from WordPress.org but hosted elsewhere.
You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
I would recommend reaching out to your hosting provider for any suggestions of protecting your site from receiving a large spam registration. Alternatively, if you’re using a different plugin for your registration page you can also contact the specific plugin support team for additional tips in order to prevent this.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

Recently my site has received a large number of registrations from Russia and Eastern europe. After registering, they quite quickly change their passwords. My site is hosted by Hostgator. I have trashed my Donation plugin in case they discover my banking details
What is their likely purpose and how do I stop these registrations?
Thanks in anticipation of your help
