what anti spam plugin should I use? I get 10 emails a day from ithemes security that people keep trying to access my site and it blocks their login. It is a site lockout notification. I also have several hundred spam comments people have tried to make. I9 don’t know which pages are allowing people to leave these spam comments. How do I stop what I think are hackers trying to access my site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Akismet is built in here and does a good job

What is the full URL beginning with http of the blog you need help with

You might be in the wrong forum

I get the lockout notifications every day.

  • As auxclass guessed, you are in the wrong forum. Your website is a wordpress.org install, not a free wordpress.com site. You please need to go to the wordpress.org forum for assistance as we can’t help you here: http://wordpress.org/support/

Thank you! I posted there. I hope for a reply. I wrote:

I did review previous posts and replies were more advanced then my working knowledge of how to do things.
Can I please be given step by step, easy to follow directions on what to do, what to install, etc. so these stop?
Is there an anti spam plugin should I use? I get 10 emails a day and I think these may be coming from ithemes security but I’m not really sure that is where these messages come from. It says that people keep trying to access my site and it blocks their login. It is a site lockout notification. I also have several hundred spam comments people have tried to make. I don’t know which pages are allowing people to leave these spam comments. How do I stop what I think are hackers trying to access my site?

    My current related plugins are:
    Akismet 3.0
    ithemes security 4.2.6

I’m really not well versed in this so please offer easy to understand solutions. Thank you!

    See here http://akismet.com

I’m sorry but this is the third time you have been correctly told we cannot help you here at all. This is the WordPress.COM support forum. We provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs. Your blog is a wordpress.ORG install being hosted by GoDaddy.

You need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site because it is not hosted by WordPress.COM.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

I hit the link above and it said .org/support http://wordpress.org/support/ I’m registered and signed in. It shows my name at the top right. I then clicked:

    I added new

    I hit post
… I just got it. You misunderstood my last post here. It is my fault for retyping what I posted on the other site. I said, thank you I posted there and this is what I wrote. It made it look like I was posting here again. Sorry about that. Have a good day.
