spam video in my post

  • Unknown's avatar

I just replied to some comments on my new post and then opened twitter to tweet about it. Realized I didn’t have the post link and went back (keeping Twitter open, which may have been my mistake). When I clicked on the post title (Historical fiction set in ancient times), a video appeared at the bottom of my post. When I clicked the “comment” link, the same video appeared again. It isn’t there when you just go to the site, but if anyone tries to link to the post or comment, it appears.

Help! We had such a nice discussion going!

    Thanks so much,

Could it be one of the ads WordPress.com runs on our sites?

I am having the same problem on my site. Several people have reported a spam video on my blog (seems to appear and disappear from different posts) and some of them have adult content. This is extremely upsetting to me since my blog is family oriented. Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    M. Dang

  • To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements, and the agreement for this has been in our terms of service since 2006.

We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

If by “adult content” you’re referring to the video with the “Live and Exotic” title card, this is actually a Mini Roadster commercial.

If you actually see an ad with adult content, please take a screenshot and upload it via Media -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard so we can take a look and report it to our ad provider.

Thank you for your quick response! :) It was perhaps the Mini Roadster commercial, but the people who reported it were afraid to click on it because of the title. There was one report of a video that was labeled “Adult” and I have asked several of my trusted readers to take a screen shot for me if they should see anything of the sort. Thank you again for your quick response and for putting my mind at ease! :)

Mine was the “Live and Exotic” link, too. I was afraid to publicize the post after seeing that. And thanks to mbdang for letting me know I wasn’t the only one.

Like her, I appreciate the quick response.

  • You’re quite welcome! We’re seeing what we can do about getting that ad to appear less scary, since it’s really just a car commercial.
