Spam visits

The traffic on my blog has been driven – for the past few days – by searches for “superman” related items. The problem is I have very little to no references to Superman on my blog. Could this be spam, and has anyone else had a similar problem?

Your username is linked to a typepad blog. Do you have a wordpress.com blog? Or have you posted to the wrong forum?

Google search superman site: usjamerica.wordpress.com
Google has a cache and if you click you will see that it appears to have cached a post that you may have made and then deleted. You may also want to look here http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php?readmore=4144 -

I was just pointing out that there is some sort of Superman award thing going on that has put him in the news again. When this happens we often find that old posts we have written are suddenly getting lots of hits. What’s occuring is that other bloggers are searching all posts out on a given topic and that includes older posts. This happened to me in regard to a Spiderman post I had made.
The bottom line is that if you have received Superman trackback comments, then previous to approving them you can click on the link and check out the site it came from. If you decide it’s spammy then you can delete the trackback comment.

Staff have said in the past that our stats do not include bots, which are what most spammers use, so that wouldn’t be the issue in this case. You’re just getting a lot of legitimate interest.
