Spammer followers

  I’m receiving an influx of followers whose email addresses are clearly spam sites. I don’t think they can hurt me that way, but, ideally, it would be nice to delete them, since I’m reasonably certain they are not fans of my blog. I’ve gotten three new spam followers in less than 24 hours. Should I be concerned?

  Hi there,

  I’m sorry to hear about the additional followers that you’re getting that don’t appear to be legitimate! We are working on a means to make it more difficult for “spam followers” to illegitimately follow others, however such methods are not quite in place yet.

  These spam followers are not hurting you in any way, you just need to make sure that you don’t interact with them. If you’d like, you can provide a list of the ones you don’t want following you and I can remove them for you, however be aware that they can always just refollow you again, so it will be an extremely short-termed solution!

  I’m glad to hear that you Happy Engineers are working on this issue. I suspected they weren’t doing damage, but they are annoying.
