  I’m just curious… what does the plus number represent that is above the Sparkline on the top left?

  Do your mean the +follow blog link? http://en.support.wordpress.com/following/ It appears on the immediate left of the sparkline on the navigation bar. It’s what other WordPress.com bloggers click and use to follow your blog.
