Spearhead: image caption text defaults to white
-
Hi there,
My site uses the Spearhead theme.
Today I noticed when I insert an image and want to set its caption, the text defaults to white: https://imgur.com/a/uXcFl6t
Any idea why it started happening?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I see your screen shot is from the editor, but currently you don’t have any caption added to that image. Can you please add the caption and update the post so I can see what happens in the published version?
-
Oops.. sorry. Don’t know how I missed this reply (I didn’t get an email notification, I think).
Here is more information: https://imgur.com/a/YVYJWu0
You will see there three images:
1) Preview
2) Editor mode – caption not highlighted
3) Editor mode – caption highlighted -
Thanks for the screen shot. I really need to see it on your site, though, so I can inspect the HTML and CSS code being used in my browser to see what’s causing this :)
After we’ve had time to take a look, you can remove it again if you prefer.

You can see images on this page: https://maxkatz.org/2020/12/04/a-twitch-live-streaming-an-online-meetup-or-a-webinar-what-is-the-difference/.
It appear to be an issue only in the editor. When you publish (even without updating the font color), the caption is visible.

Hi there,
I was able to replicate this issue on a test site, and have reported it to our developers so they can take a closer look and fix.
For the time being there is not a workaround I can provide, but I’ll be happy to update you as soon as we have more info from our team.
Thanks for your patience!

Thank you.
Also this might help – it was working fine when the theme was just released. I noticed this issue just now.

Thanks. In that case it might be a recent change in the editor rather than the theme, especially also as you say it used to work initially. But our developers will investigate.
-
hi Folks – happy new year! Do you have any information on when this issue might be fixed?
-
Thank you. This update was pushed to production? I created a new blog post, inserted an image and still get the same problem.

Hi,
Here is a published page (caption is there as before):
https://maxkatz.org/a-test-page/and this is how it looks in the editor:

Hmm, so it is in production, but I’m wondering if maybe a hard refresh would help? When I view the editor on your site, the correct colors are there.

Ahah. I noticed the issue was closed and saw the pull request was merged:
https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/2915Just now I read the request, too, and noticed a comment saying the bug is apparently only reproducible if light-mode is on: https://github.com/Automattic/themes/pull/3011
So I tried that and can confirm, I do see the same thing. I was going to reopen the issue then decided to check in internally first, but they’re likely to post update there if you want to follow along, or we can update you here.

Ahh this is my bad. I had assumed it was in production since I saw it was merged and I wasn’t seen any issues, but this is indeed being lumped in with an upcoming release.
