Spearhead Theme wont work

Hey all. I am trying to apply the Spearhead theme. It says its active, but it is showing another theme no matter what I do. Really at a loss and frustrated. Never had so many issues with wordpress simply starting a project.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Is it possible that you have multiple WordPress.com accounts?

The canadianherpetoculture.wordpress.com site is not public yet.

I literally just made the account. Of course its not public, I havent even been able to start it yet because of this.

  • Thank you for providing this extra information. I am sorry you are experiencing this challenge with the theme. It does sound frustrating.

I tried to look up some previous forum answers and I found this question that might be helpful for you:
    https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/free-plan-is-it-possible-to-use-the-spearhead-theme/

    There staff-totoro mentions that:

Or, to state it another way, if you activate a new theme on your existing site, it does NOT add the demo content (you see in the Spearhead example) on your site, but instead preserves what you already have there.

This is why there does not always seem to be much of a change to your site when you switch themes…

The Staff also regularly checks this forum, so they will get back to you as soon as possible.

@csabarakasz To flag a thread for Staff’s attention, please also add the MODLOOK tag in the sidebar. I’ve added it along with a few other tags. Cheers.

  • Hi there,

Your site canadianherpetoculture.wordpress.com uses that Spearhead theme and I can see the theme’s layout correctly.

If you’re seeing something different please grab a screenshot and upload it to your Media Library so I can have a look. Here’s how to take a screenshot:

  • Thanks @justjennifer for your response and for checking on my answer. With this question, I was actually hesitant whether to add the modlook tag or not, and at the end decided not to. As I was looking at the when to call a staff guidelines, I thought this question doesn’t fit any of those categories. I also thought that since the Staff regularly checks the forum, they will soon come and respond if my response was not answering the member’s question.

You might be right, and I should have just add the tag on the first place.

    Thanks for your work!

  • Thanks for your help here, @csabarakasz :) We do regularly check the forums, but if a post has been answered by a volunteer, we usually leave those unless they are modlooked.

    @canadianherpetoculturepodcast
, I just thought I’d add, your theme has been customized somewhat, but if you want to make it look more like the demo, this bit from the setup guide may help:

The demo site displays the site’s Latest Posts. Follow these steps to achieve the same look:

Publish a few posts that include an audio block. To publish a post, navigate to My Site → Posts → Add Post.
Next, go to Customize → Homepage Settings.
Under the “Your homepage displays” section, select “Your Latest posts”.
Click the Publish button on top to save your changes.
If you’d like to highlight specific post at the top, mark any of your blog posts as “sticky”. Sticky posts will display on the top of the page, with a darker background.

Does that help? If not, send more details and we’ll go from there.
