Special character codes gone
-
About a month ago I noticed that the keystrokes for special characters were no longer being displayed on the special characters map on the editing page. I can still insert the characters by clicking on the map, but sometimes I want or need to type in the HTML codes — in comments, for example — and I need to know the codes. Have they been removed or do I have a glitch?

Do you mean these?

Visual editor Row 2 icon 7 Insert special character -
Or do you mean you need a reference like this one?

The former. The WP custom characters in the visual editor.
Also, I’ve just noticed even when I click the map/table to insert a character, if I then look at the text editor, the code doesn’t show there either. Particularly troublesome if I’m trying to tell a non-breaking space from a regular space.
