Specialist Christmas App

    Hi everyone.

    I could do with some advice from some tech savvy peeps out there.

    Basically; I represent a global charity and we always do a special project around Christmas time.

    My idea is this – a virtual Christmas tree on our website. We would invite people to make a donation to “decorate” the tree with ornaments. On each ornament would be a memory or message of a person who has passed and can not be with them at christmas.

    Funds would go towards a special event at a children’s cancer hospital.

    My question is this:

    Is there such an app out there which would make this possible? I’d like the tree to be static, but have the ability to add the ornaments/messages as people donate to add theirs. I’m just not sure how I can do this. Any ideas?

    Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, I think you can do this, and there are multiple options. Let’s start with getting set up on a free .wordpress.com site and the things you could do on a free site.

    1. use a contact form: https://en.support.wordpress.com/forms/contact-form/

    With that option someone would find your contact form embedded on a page or post that discusses this event. They would submit the form to the designated email address from there you can reply to them directly with a list of gift items needed, where to deliver, etc…

    2. add the event to a widget space on the site. You could use several different widget options to achieve this

    3. create a page on the site with all of the information someone would need to get involved and make a donation
