Specific problem uploading Youtube video

When I put a youtube video on my wordpress.com blog, the images are fuzzy. It’s also fuzzy on youtube, until you follow their instructions and add “&fmt=18” to the end of your video’s url when you send people to it. When I do that, it comes through crisp and clear. However, when I follow wordpress’s instructions to do the same — append “&fmt=18” to the youtube url, it doesn’t change anything. The video on wordpress is still fuzzy.

Does anyone know anything about this? This is really holding up the launching of my blog. :(. You wouldn’t BELIEVE how long it took me to figure out how to do the (camtasia) video in the first place, and now this!

    Thanks so much.

Can we have a link to your blog please? → http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/08/16/how-do-i-have-my-name-link-to-my-blog/

You will want to upload the whole URL + &fmt=18 again to WordPress.com to create a whole new video link. Delete the first one before doing this.

The basic problem may be that WordPress does not support the higher res…yet.

Hi Bee. I did do what you said (I think.) I created a second post and put in the url again, with the appended &fmt=18. It did the same thing. Someone on youtube said that wordpress doesn’t support the higher quality player, but I was hoping that wasn’t true!! But you’ve said it too, so maybe it is.

I think I followed to have my link to my blog like you requested, but in case not, it’s drjudyspeaks.wordpress.com, if that’s what you mean.

Right now your name says http://www.drjudyspeaks.wordpress.com/

You don’t have to have the www.

    “…wordpress doesn’t support the higher quality player…”

I think this is the correct assumption. Sorry about that. Ask the developers to put it into WP.com here → https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas
