Can WordPress.com users transfer to .org and buy a custom theme?

    Hello,

I am new to WordPress, blogging and web design. I have a couple of questions I am hoping you can help me with.

1)One because I am new and just starting out I am wondering if I create a blog/website in WordPress.com will it convert over to WordPress.org or would I have to build a new site for .org. I am not sure what the difference is or benefit of .org compared to .com.

2)I ran across persons site and it shows it is a WordPress creation but he used a theme from SUTIOPRESS called AgentPress theme. Does WordPress have something similiar so I do not have to buy something from another company and I can just use a similar theme from WordPress.

    Thank you,

    Cliff Capehart

    Hi Cliff,

    Welcome to WordPress!

If you create a blog on WordPress.com, you can transfer over most of your content via our Export tool:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

We also offer a Guided Transfer upgrade where one of our Happiness Engineers will transfer all of your content over to your new WordPress.org site and get everything all set up and cozy on your self-hosted account:

Regarding your second question, we do not specifically offer the AgentPress theme, nor can WordPress.com users upload custom themes to their account. As an alternative you may be interested in the Delicious Magazine, Enterprise, or Structure themes. Please note that not all of these themes are available on WordPress.org should you choose to transfer your site in the future.
