Speeding up my site on Google PageSpeed

I’ve just spent the morning trying to speed up my page as per Google PageSpeed. Among the things I’ve tried to do are:
    – Leverage browser caching
    – Enable compression
    – Minify JavaScript

    Also, as google suggested:
    – Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold
    – Reduce server response time
    – Show how to fix
    – Leverage browser caching
    – Minify JavaScript
    – Minify CSS
    – Minify HTML

Are these things do-able on WordPress.com free hosted blogs?

    Thanks

    No, they are not.

As a former Daily Dot reporter, I strongly advise you to avoid copy-pasting articles the way you are doing, and reduce the snippet you copy-paste to that covered by fair use. Perhaps 50 words or so. They DO have good lawyers there, and that is copyright violation.

    Hi Raincoaster,

I just copied some widely used phrases.

Things like ‘minify javascript’, ‘reduce server response time’ and ‘enable compression’ can hardly be considered copyright violation.

Or am I now learning something new?
