Spell Check issues
-
Since the inception of the new wordpress dashboard my spellchecker has ceased to work. Both the Firefox one that works so well, and now the wordpress one as well. That is making life a tad difficult, since I’m not a flawless typer! Any suggestions? Oddly, the firefox spellchecker seems to work in comments and in this forum entry, but it will not operate on my blogging writing.

Do you have Java disabled? Java needs to be enabled to user the Dashboard.
Spellcheck works well for me using Firefox. You may want to try updating all your addons by going to Tools → Addons → Find Updates.

I haven’t posted in a while. The new look now gives me a very limited spellchecker. It won’t allow me to add words like “with” which it feels is not spelled correctly. There are days I really need spellchecker. Have Java enabled. Have Firefox. Going to use Open Office and paste text for a few weeks.

In firefox, go to your preferences > advanced > general and under “browsing, make sure that “check my spelling as I type” is selected.

The WordPress spell check works for me, unless I select “Ignore All” from the drop-down menu. At which point Firefox (v3) warns me that “a script has stopped responding”, and I can choose OK or Cancel. If I choose OK to continue the script, the browser slows to a crawl, and then the dialogue appears again. Cancelling produces no ill effects, but the ignore all function appears not to work for me.
