Spelling rules for domain names
-
When I started the process of building the blog, I saw a caution on the spelling rules for domain names. Now that I have the page going I can no longer find the naming rules short of starting a new blog. I even started out looking from the beginning and can’t find the rules. Where are all of the happiness engineers when I need just one?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think names (yoursite.wordpress.com) – are only letters and numbers – lower case only
I could not find the support documents for that – so I have flagged this for the staff to help
Staff – maybe add the spelling rules on the standard domain name pages in the support documents

That’s OK – we all wonder where they are from time to time when we something we want them to help with (bad spam days are one)
You be welcome & good luck

I’m here! :)
For free WordPress.com blog addresses (ending in .wordpress.com), auxclass is right — only lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers are allowed. When you go to sign up for a new blog, we’ll check to make sure the new address you choose fits those rules. I also added that to our support page here: Register a Blog
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thanks for updating the support documents, I have ran into this question several times before in the forum – now folks don’t need to visit the forum for the guidelines

You’re welcome. Feel free to point out other things like this that we could add to support documents, as you notice them. It’s always nice to have the information somewhere where it can be easily referred to.
