Splash page during site editing
-
I’m teaming up with a colleague and we’ve decided to continue to use my blog as opposed to starting a new one. I have a number of edits that I need to make that I would like to ‘update’ all at the same time. Is there a splash page for maintenance that I could put up while I’m doing this editing?
Thanks,
Myles

There is no maintenance page here at WordPress.com. You can create a static front page if you wish and then change back but I wouldn’t do that. I would just go ahead and do what needed to be done.
By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest post, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Thank you Timethief for the above advice and sorry it has taken me so long to reply to you.
I have another question regarding Publicize. My blog currently links with my personal Facebook page and works well. I have now taken on a business partner and I would like to have posts link to not only my personal FB account but also to my my colleague’s personal FB account. Is there a way to do this? I can’t seem to find one.
Thanks again!
