Split: Glitch in Article Viewing on Desktop/ Laptop

Likewise, I’m having a similar issue. My blog (https://webloomsage.wordpress.com/) is on the old theme, Redoable Lite, and nothing’s visible now. This is a problem that happened back in 2013, and it seems to be happening again ten years after: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/help-my-posts-have-disappeared/ Gonna guess you’ve got a similar thing going on.
To anyone who can help: It would mean so much to be able to keep the design of my site into the future, after all these years of writing.

@homestarrunnertron your theme is completely outdated and is no longer compatible with current wordpress.com. it has been retired for over a decade. The only solution is to switch over to a recent theme.
-
I understand, but it was working up until a week ago. Something happened, and that could be reversed– so it’s not the only solution. It’s the most practical one, certainly, and probably no one on the WordPress team will pay me any mind, but it’s just a really nice theme. It’d be nice to keep for sentimental reasons.

A retired theme no longer gets updates and could be a securityrisc. Unfortunately there is no other solution than changing to a newer theme as stated even by Staff in other similar threads.

Back in 2013, in the thread I listed (https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/help-my-posts-have-disappeared/), was the problem solved by updating the theme, or was it something else entirely? If it was updated, the theme WAS already retired when it got updated in 2013, meaning retired themes CAN get updates. If it WASN’T updated, then I’m assuming the solution is something else not related to updating the retired theme. I know it’s a long shot, but I do think there’s a 0.01% chance for a fix. In the meantime, I’m just going to have people read through my blog through the mobile version, since that works: https://webloomsage.wordpress.com/?ak_action=accept_mobile
-
Again: retired themes don’t get updates anymore. The mobile version of your site looks terribel as that theme isn’t responsive. So either you keep people forcing to look at an incomplete theme or you switch to a recent theme which are all responsive.

-
I see no real problem with that. :)
If WordPress doesn’t do something about this, they’re going to make it so a bajillion unupdated blogs can’t be read any more. Other platforms wouldn’t let anyone keep the theme if they were going to do this. If they’d like to REMOVE the broken themes entirely them default to something else, I think that would make sense. But since they’re NOT doing that, I enjoy being a glitch in the matrix in the meantime.

All themes expire someday, even commercial themes you find on the internet for which people pay a lot of money. It’s not up to wordpress or any other CMS, to keep websites running on their platfform up to date. That’s solely the responsability of the site owner.
