Split one blog into multiple blogs based on category
-
Hi
I have one blog and over time have been adding multiple categories which have now grown to almost 26 categories. I want to basically split this blog into multiple blogs based on the category under which the posts are for e.g. all posts under category A and B in one blog while posts under C and D are to be moved to a second blog. If a post is under category A and C then it would be present on both blogs. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A) this will absolutely slaughter your search engine ranking. Duplicated content causes all search engines to treat BOTH blogs as spam blogs
B) not possible anyway at WordPress.com other than by copy/pasting each post from one blog to the other by hand each time.

You could set the new blog to private, then do an export of the old blog (which would include ALL posts) and then delete the posts that were going to stay on the old blog. Then you go to the old blog and delete all the posts that are to be on the new blog.
But as raincoaster says, doing this is going to create a ton of 404 errors in the search engines on the old blog listings and completely hammer your search engine ranking.

This is a terrible idea for all the reasons provided by raincoaster and TSP. My asvice is don’t do it. Here is the report on your blog and it reflects these important results re: search engine indexing:
# Your blog is indexed by Google (97 results).
powered by
# Your blog is indexed by Bing (36 results).
