Split: Opting Out of Guttenberg
-
Eh, what a pain in the arse. This new forced “upgrade” is actually the motivation I needed to close my blogs. I just want a basic platform, and each time it changes it makes life more frustrating. We don’t all have time to faff around with workarounds to get past this nonsense.
I’ll be looking for a new home for my main site, starting next week.

Hi @sonyanheaney I’ve moved your question to its own forum thread as it is always better to do that rather than adding a new post onto someone else’s thread which sends out an email to everyone subscribed to that thread. And while I do understand your frustration, kindly keep your forum posts civil. https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/best-practices-community-standards/ Thanks.
The Classic Editor has not gone away. You can read more about that in this blog post.
If you want to use it, you should be able to:
1. Use the Classic Block in the MySite Editor, which emulates the Classic Editor experience, as described here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/2. Or navigate to your WPcom site’s WP Admin dashboard (yoursite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/) and using the Classic Editor there
https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editorIf you don’t see those options, please post back and let us know.
However, the Block Editor is easier to use than most people believe and has been greatly improved over the last couple of years. If your sites have already been switched to the Block Editor at MySite, you can try it out in a draft post and there’s a tutorial to get you started at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
Post back here if you have any other questions.
