splitting two blogs to two different user names

I liked my friends blog site for greenpartysolanocounty and needed one for my county, so she duplicated hers and named it greenpartysanmateocounty….which gave her two blogs. She then made me an admin and I proceeded to take over the one for my county deleting what parts of the common site were not relevant for my county. I now have a wordpress site which I have made public. But it still shows solanocoutygreens as the user and is how it would sign things, etc. I have tried to sign in as a new user but of course wordpress says the name greenpartysanmateocounty is already taken. Is there a way to split it off so it can be under my user name instead??

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Let me try to simplify things to help understand the situation.

Your friend has a user account called ‘solanocountygreens’, with the site http://greenpartysolanocounty.wordpress.com/.

Next, your friend created a duplicate site called http://greenpartysanmateocounty.wordpress.com/

You have modified that site, but then found out that the posts there were still using ‘solanocountygreens’ as the author.

You wanted to create your own username for the http://greenpartysanmateocounty.wordpress.com/, but the ‘greenpartysanmateocounty ‘ username is taken.

    Are those correct?

If yes, transferring a blog is possible and can be done as explained here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#transfer-a-blog

What you need to do now is simply to create a username for yourself, that will then be used on the http://greenpartysanmateocounty.wordpress.com/ site. If the username you want is taken, then you can try registering another username (doesn’t have to be the same with the blog’s name).
