  Found this wonderful plugin for WordPress.org called wp-spoiler-alert. I only have a WordPress.com account, but I’d love to use this plug-in. I write book reviews, and want to share spoilers but only when the reader can choose whether to click a link to read the spoilers or not.

  I second that request because it or a similar utility has been repeatedly requested by a number of users over a long time.

  As a workaround in the meantime, especially since you said “but only when the reader can choose whether to click a link” you could use page jumps to accomplish this, either with the spoiler on the same post or page at the bottom or on an entirely separate page.
