Sponsored Post on my blog

I’ve just started a new blog (not yet published, just creating some content to start up with) and a preview of it displays a sponsored post from WordPress about their training courses. I can’t delete it or anything.
What is this? Is it an ‘advert’? I don’t have a choice about whether it is in my content, looking like I’ve put it there? Deliberately annoying to encourage me to go for a paid account?
Not happy. I could understand the old ‘adverts display if you don’t want to pay anything’ thing, but this is highly intrusive. Anyone else getting this or is it a new trial thing?

OK, my monitor is big and my varifocals are new… three little dots give a drop down with options to ‘remove this’ which, when pressed, dumps you into the accounts options page… so yes, adverts, but to me, not my (haven’t got any yet) readers.
The pressure from WordPress to help them monetise lately is great… My email inbox with ‘special offers’ attests to this…

  • Hi there – That is a native sponsored post. Here’s a little more information about what that is: https://wordpress.com/support/native-sponsored-posts/

It’s happened on my blog as well & I loathe it, enough so, that after writing my blog on WordPress for seven years I no longer want to. My blog has been spoiled by the intrusive “sponsored” post. Very disappointing.
