“Sponsorship”?

Hi WP Techies
A post I actually managed to publish (eight months ago, on voting -Calif.), is still hot, getting more readers each day, so logged-in to up-date it and when I did found: invitation to register the blog for “sponsorship.” –I haven’t heard/know nothing, but if successful (chosen) –and if I accept, it seems to involve monthly cash payment, from a single source. I (still) have Major Headache with my wedge of WP leftover from August ’07 system-wide meltdown & from “improved” dashboard, so posting is a joke/far too hard –haven’t been around for a long time, don’t lurk the forums any more (clueless re changes)
and “Search” didn’t help. So: Is single-source monthly stipend allowed on WP dot com?If so: tips, experience, advice?

From what I’ve seen, it’ll get your blog deleted. And from what I’ve seen in the comments section of my own blog, it’s probably a scam anyway.

Scam? Hmm…I don’t see that, THEY pay, but it’s moot if “it’ll get your blog deleted.”
What’s the rumor mill saying, lately, about eta of ad-program appearing?

Indefinite. Indefinite as in one staff member said it might be coming in the future and the one I asked directly about it last month, who said he’d be in a position to know if that were the case, said there’s nothing in the works right now. So it looks like not for any time this calendar year at the very least.

Okay…sorta surprising, though. Thot the crew was hot (last Year) to get ad program going. Was there a ‘group hug’ in SF this summer, as last year? –If so (did you go?): Did they discuss ad program?
Wish they would post lectures, or at least summaries of the topics from those. –And really, why not, since everyone who could have gone did, but everyone else could still benefit from the lecture/talks.
Oh well. 9/11 my mother’s birthday, off to send a card, and Unless I get Good advice on my next (Forum) post, none of it matters anyway.Thanks for replying.

The ‘L’ is still there for me. You mean the one just to the left of the typing area?
Forum post editing. It was being abused. Someone would post. Then someone else would follow up and the original posted would then edit their posts to make the second person look bad / wrong. It happened a fair amount – emails came into Support many times from annoyed ‘victims’. That said I was going to discuss that when I catch Mike online.
And improvements are always subjective. Every change means we get people saying how bad it is. And we always get more people saying they like it. Honestly we do :)

It sure would be nice if the edit feature was back but only allow the person
that wrote the reply to be able to edit for a set amount of time… Also it sure
would be nice if we could have a reply button by every members name so our replies
would end up in a chronological order instead of our comments being in a disorderly

People, morons(?), CHANGE posts –Intentionally make Following post(er) look dumb??? Sheesh! Stu-PID! Sorry but: if crew changed the way system functioned, that’s on WP crew, their fault, enabled ensuing probs. Originally, three(?) years ago, one’s post could be edited Up Until reply, then “edit” melted away/post was fixed; when it is so VERY easy to err –omit key word –imply incorrect point –mis-spell, etc., yet notice it Too Late, necessitating additional posts to correct the error, I say Simple: put “edit” option BACK and leave ‘live’ until a reply is posted.
–The End –of morons/‘victims’/whiney e-mails to admin.-“improvements”

–Well that’s nice, for you. But Fifth(?) Forum design change…fourth(?) Dashboard design…new Gee Whiz multi-ways to “count” those who merely click on a post (but NOT how long they stay) –Fixing that which wasn’t broken –while the bugs/errors/glitches/flaws REMAIN…. Me: I’m Still (not)coping with “improved” Dashboard…. I have a life, post to all my other non-WP blogs, every week, yet: 57 posts in my WP queue, Not posted…. Just to Update/edit an Existing post: took me over NINE HOURS.
Let me count the ways, How I hate the “improved” Dashboard….~justjennifer

I knew last year, that I wouldn’t be able to make it to WordCamp This year. But I’m WAY working on getting my act together to go: Next Year (assuming “improved” #@&%!&% Dashboard doesn’t cause demise or dementia first…)! Meeting Lorelle and you incentive. Plus: Three is a charm; topics, talks, talkers will prolly be the Best. But since no one has contradicted Rain, I will assume:
“sponsorship” will not be financing my expenses (lol). Congrats on your Blogiversary!~mark, Key Master
BTW: Congrats on your 9/11/05 WP-iversary…is that how you lost some of your hair? (lol)
