I have drafted my new website. I am currently with Freeola and I wish to retain them for my email function only. They have said I should ask you for the A Record. I will then ring Freeola and they will put this on the domain. Is this done before I implement the $60 package or do I commit to that first?

It sounds like you’ve bought a domain at Freeola which you would like to use for a WordPress site hosted with us, is that correct?
If so I would start by purchasing the plan that meets your needs then pointing the domain to your site by following this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/Once the plan is bought you may also contact support for help with getting our A Records. However, we recommend using our name servers and managing your DNS (including those for email) from our interface.
