My old email is no longer functional, yet that is the only one wordpress recognizes. I can not log in to my blog until they accept my new info. But they won’t accept my new info, to run my old account.
Site: bill & butkus.
Correct account: Unknown -

My blog is: Bill&Butkus.com and my new email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I am through using any “outlook” sites.

Bill&butkus.com is not a valid domain as & is not allowed in a domain. Perhaps you mean https://billandbutkus.wordpress.com/?
-
That is extremely possible. I must warn you that you talking with a computer-illiterate. I did not set-up this blog, nor do I understand what makes it work. I only write the bizarre rantings that swirl in my head.
WordPress wishes to verify my identity when I attempt to log-in by sending codes to an email that I can no longer access. And when dealing with my new email, I am not recognized as an existing customer. Thus, I am frozen-out of my own blog.

Hi!
I would like to inform you that I will be escalating your question to staff now. But first before I do so, is there any additional information that you would like to provide?
-
I don’t know what info you need, but if you have any non-computer questions, I can provide answers.

Have you tried logging out of this new account and logging in with the correct username of your site. Is it wnwells1? along with your password. You can update your email address once you are logged in to the correct account.
-
Yes I have, many times. A message always says,” to verify your identity, we will send a code to your email.” But it is then sent to an email that I can’t retrieve. When I offer my new email, I am treated as a new customer. There must be many other ways that I could Identify myself. But the system is not very personal.

The profile info on my site page is incorrect! Please do not use that for anything! I have a new email address available on request. Thanx.

Hi there!
Can you visit this site and confirm if this is the correct site that you’re trying to log into?
https://billandbutkus.wordpress.com/
Once you confirm that, we can help with the next steps. I don’t see any confirmation from you above that https://billandbutkus.wordpress.com/ is the correct site. Please confirm that first.
Thanks!
-
Yes! That is my site, that is my living room, and that is my cat Butkus. I’m sorry that I’m not more helpful, but I don’t understand anything about how this works.
-B -
No worries, thanks for confirming!
So, because the site was created using a different email address, you’ll need to use that exact email address to reset the password before you can log in to manage the site. The email address you mentioned above is NOT the correct email that was used on the site at
https://billandbutkus.wordpress.com/.Due to security reasons, we aren’t able to reveal which email address you used on the correct account. However, we have a detailed account recovery process that you can follow by visiting this link: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
Please fill out the account recovery form with the required details and we’ll get back to you via email.

Please don’t give-up on me yet. I want to recover my site, but I don’t know what else to do. I am computer illiterate and was in the hospital when this site was begun for me. I am working with my nephew who created it, to see what he remembers, but that was 7-8 years ago. I had all of the information stored on my previous email, but since Microsoft mistakenly froze my mail, I can’t retrieve the folder. But I will keep trying. I appreciate all of your help.

Hi there,
You’ll need to work with Microsoft to help you recover access to that email address. Once that’s done you’ll be able to use our password reset tool and access the account that owns that site.

I appreciate your security apparatus, and the actions taken to ensure privacy. But I wish that you could look into my case on an individual basis. This blog was set-up about seven years ago and I can’t find anyone who remembers receiving or storing codes, (I was hospitalized at the time, and I know nothing about how it functions.)
Just look at it. It is nothing more than a quasi-diary. Nobody would want to “hack” it. It has no followers and nobody even reads it but the occasional family member. And I don’t ask for, or earn money from it. I can’t understand why I was ever locked out of it. And still I get requests from WordPress to update or invest more into it.
How about this: Return it to me on a conditional basis, If you notice something unusual, cut it off again? Otherwise, I see no reason to continue with WordPress! -
Are you positive you can’t recall your password (or did you write it down somewhere when you decided on the password you were going to use) as that site was updated as recently as one month ago. With the correct username and password you’re back in and then you can update the email address associated with the site.
Note to anyone else with a site they have had for a while: check the email address associated with your site is still accessible in case you ever find yourself in this situation. -
@panther80: We host millions of websites here so we would not be able to grant that request.
We also take account security very seriously, so you will need to go through our official channels to prove ownership of the website provided your nephew can’t help you get logged back into the other account (not
panther80that you’re logged in with now).If they can’t help you get logged back in, please send an email to
passwordhelp (at) wordpress (dot) comexplaining the situation, and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do for you.
