spotify embed/URI just shows up as a link

    I post the embed code from spotify or use the URI and developer.spotify to convert it into a play button but it only displays a link to the song on spotify. Please help!

    Yes I found this site previously and used it to a tee but still didn’t have any luck. if you ook at my site you’ll see that it just appears as a link when I post the following as plain text:

    Hey there @sremmo69!

    Did you check out the troubleshooting section at the bottom of the Spotify support page that @guicmazeredo linked before? Is it possible perhaps the visual editor and it has changed it to a hyperlink without you realising?

    Troubleshooting

    Make sure the Spotify URL is not hyperlinked. If the URL is shown in your theme’s link color (as the second line in the screenshot below), then it is hyperlinked. Select the link and click the Remove icon to remove it.

    Once the URL is unlinked, you will see the link text in black.
    Make sure to place the Spotify URL or shortcode on its own line. This means there should be no character or whitespace before or after the URL/shortcode.

    If you’re absolutely sure that this isn’t what is causing your problem, then I suggest try using the shortcode embed that is mentioned – and let me know if that works better than the <iframe> that you are referencing here.

    Thanks for pointing this troubleshooting @annamc. That could be the case.

    @sremmo69, I realize that you will not have success using the iframe code unless you are subscribed to Business Plan because it’s the only one that enables iframe code.

    However, you still should be able to enjoy Spotify embed, using the song link as you are trying to. So I tried to reproduce your environment installing the Gazette theme (the one that you are using), posted the song link and everything worked well.

    Are you pasting the song link in the HTML Tab before toggling to the Visual Tab on your post editor? This is one way to avoid getting into the hyperlink problem that @annacmc mentioned.
