SpringWidgets in blog?
-
Hello nice forum people,
I want to add a widget from SpringWidgets to the side bar in my blog. I want the widget to sit right above the Blogroll. I have searched the FAQ forums, but haven’t found anything about how to make the widget display properly. The only thing I can get is a link that says “get this widget!” and that links to the widget itself on SpringWidgets.
Is this an impossible project, or is there a secret to making the widget work that I just need to know about?
The widget is here: http://www.springwidgets.com/widgets/view/31717/?param_param=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dungeonrunners.com%2Fnews%2Fatom.xml¶m_compactView=-1¶m_style_borderColor=0x000000¶m_style_brandUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fdownloads.thespringbox.com%2Fhosted_content%2Fimages%2Fdb7a3813382efc8cb3f5659a8287c55d.gif&width=250&height=300
(Sorry for the long link!)My blog is “Kicking Back”, and should be linked to if you click on my user name. I want the widget to be where the RSS feed is right now. Right below the RSS feed is a little link, which I am hoping to turn into an actual widget. SpringWidgets claim their code can be used on WordPress, but that little link below the RSS is all that shows up.
Thanks in advance for all help!
/Mimsy

I’m guessing that widget uses flash. You won’t be able to use it at wordpress.com. And when sites like that say they have a wordpress compatible widget, they usually mean one that’s compatible with the software that’s used with self hosted sites that don’t have the restrictions we have here.

Yes, the widget does use flash. So I will not be able to use any flash other than embedded in blog posts?

You will not be able to use flash, even in blog posts. Flash is stripped out here for security reasons.
