SPUN: Background of blog posts different from background of site?

    Hi,

    I am very, very new to CSS and have no idea what I’m doing.

    I’m wondering if it is possible to change the background of the individual blog posts to white while keeping the background image of the site intact. Right now, the text against the blog posts is not easy to see, and, while I read in another post that you can alter CSS to have the background image on the front page only, I’d love to be able to keep the background itself as a frame for the posts. Any ideas?

    Blog is currently set to private.

    oops, typo: I mean that “the text against the background in the blog posts is not easy to see.”

    Okay–when I changed the Main Accent color, it created a white box around the text in blog posts automatically, but the Pages in the top navigation bar have not changed; the text still clashes with the background. Any ideas?

    Hi! Adding “bump” will move you to the bottom of the list because we usually answer questions from oldest to newest.

    Sorry, I’m having a little trouble understanding the request.

    Is the end goal to change the main background color to black but keep the background color for the content area white but to also use a background image for the content area?

    Sorry. The issue is that the website has a background image that makes the posts hard to read, because in Spun the text of each post is presented directly against the background.

    When I changed the font colors through Custom Design, for some reason each blog post gained a white background, thus containing the text in a white box. The background image became a frame around the post, rather than the background for the post.

    But nothing has changed in the “About” section of the site, which is not a post but a page; the text still clashes with the website’s background image.

    Is there a way to create a white background (for the text only) in the About page?

    Hi, I’m seeing a translucent white background on your about page right now. Did you get this resolved?

  • Unknown's avatar

    No, it’s not showing up for me.

    It’s not titled About, but Contact & Social Media–the Spun default for the page is About, so I just referred to it as the About page, because I didn’t realize you’d be able to see it (it’s set at private right now).

    Essentially, the issue is that posts show a translucent white background while pages do not.

    Ah, now I see it. The following will add the same translucent background to the normal pages, such as Contact & Social Media.

    .page .hentry {
        background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.95);
    }

    That worked! Thanks much.
