Spun: Text area on a category page
-
Theme Spun: I would like to include one large text area under the circles when a category page is displayed.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want to insert text to describe each category, you may do so with the Description box at the left of the Categories page.
-
That instruction was for new categories. For previously created categories, select “Edit” (“Quick Edit” won’t open the description box) and enter you description in the large box which appears under the word Description.

Thanks for the quick response. I switched because I got discouraged. I do want to use Spun. It is a better theme for what I am trying to achieve.
I just added description to the category “Research” but nothing has changed on the site. Any ideas?

You’re right. I had tried it only with Expound, where I displayed a very long description copied and pasted from a page on another website of mine. It included numerous links, though images and videos failed to display).
With Spun I used the same description, and then a single line of text, and it failed to display at the category page in each case. Looks like a bug.
I’ll tag the thread for Staff attention.

Oh great! Thanks a lot for looking into it. I hope this can be resolved.
In the meanwhile, have a look at the following. What they have done (switched off the category circle) might work for me if I can add more text in normal size font in addition to the category title.
http://www.francisconoa.com/category/nature/There are some instructions on how they did this here:

But I am not experienced with tinkering the code. I am giving it a try tho. -

Two things:
1. That link is to a WordPress.org support topic. What works on self-hosted .org websites might not work on WordPress.com sites.2. Do have the custom design upgrade?

Let me know if a fix is found for displaying the category description on the category pages. That seems to be the neatest solution to my problem. I’ll be waiting for it.
Thanks again! -
Hi there,
The display of the category description (or lack thereof) is not a bug. Each theme displays it or not depending on the theme designer’s choice. If you go in to edit your category, you will see the following disclaimer:
The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it.
In this case, the designer of the Spun theme has chosen not to display the category description. Sorry that this isn’t a solution for you!
