Square featured images…?
-
Why is it my older posts have rectangular featured images and my most recent posts are square?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I did not realize this was the general theme forum. The theme I’m asking about is Apostrophe 2.

Are you still working with Apostrophe 2? The blog linked in your first post is using the Lodestar theme.
As a side note, taking a look at the documentation page of Apostrophe 2, is it possible you’re seeing rectangular images on featured content posts? It looks like they’re styled to show 2 posts per row and alternating square and rectangular shaped images [ see Featured Content section ].

Argh. My mistake. I meant to be referring to to this site: http://jh.warriornews.net.
And to answer your question, no, I’m looking at non-featured posts.

Hello @kylesureline,
Thanks for the updated site link.
On my test site, I was able to recreate the issue. It looks like the original photo dimensions play a part. Anytime I used a featured image that was significantly more wide than tall, the image was cropped into a rectangle instead of a square.
Using examples from your site:
The image used on The Globetrotting Coach post is 2094 x 989 – the width is a little over twice the height. And the post shows a rectangle image on the homepage.
And for comparison purposes, the image used on the Dr Jones, Alpha Band Teacher post is 1600 x 1200. The post shows a square image on the homepage.
Hopefully this helps!

Interesting. I can’t imagine why those pictures are so wildly different in size. Well, that seems to have settled it, though. Thanks!
