  Squarespace has my online paper and we are looking to move it over to WordPress. Is there a way to build the site and then transfer the domain later so we can if live until we are ready with the build?

  Sure thing, you can work on your site using the free .wordpress.com subdomain and only map or transfer your custom domain once you’re ready.
