SSL Certificate

I pay for a WordPress plan via GoDaddy, I wanted to ask if the subscription for scrollofzohaib.com comes w an SSL certificate or if that is something I have to purchase separately.

It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted at GoDaddy.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.

You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

You should reach out to GoDaddy for help with this. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you.

    Thanks!

Thank you! I guess I wanna ask is there a way I can safely transfer my website from their servers to WordPress’ servers? And if I were to purchase a subscription directly from WordPress, would I be granted an SSL certificate?

  • Hi there,

Yes it is possible to migrate your existing WordPress site (self-hosted on GoDaddy) to be here on our WordPress.com service instead: https://wordpress.com/support/?s=import

On free sites—as well as sites under our Personal and Premium plans—you would not be able to migrate an exact copy of your site including themes and plugins. But you can import the pages, blog posts, media, etc, and then set that content into one of our pre-installed themes.

If you upgrade to the Business Plan, you would be able to migrate an exact copy of what you have on GoDaddy, using our migration option under that plan. Learn more about our WordPress.com Business Plan here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

And if I were to purchase a subscription directly from WordPress, would I be granted an SSL certificate?

All of our upgrade plans include the ability to use a custom domain (free sites use the “wordpress.com” address) and this includes a free domain transfer and +1 year of domain registration if you want to transfer your GoDaddy domain to us as well as your site.

All sites on WordPress.com include SSL (for a secure ‘https’ URL) at no extra charge. It’s included in all our plans. https://wordpress.com/support/https-ssl/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
