SSL certificate for tranferred in domain

    I would like to have wordpress host my .com but will be forwarding to a website hosted elsewhere. I have a free website on wordpress.com but will not be using it with that custom domain. Will the ssl certificate remain valid for the custom domain whilst hosted with wordpress? Or does it need to be linked with the free website here?

    Hi @circusferrel, can you clarify what you mean when you say you’re forwarding the domain? Will you be forwarding your domain to some other address, or using your domain with another service?

    Generally speaking an SSL certificate must be installed on the server where the site is hosted, so any SSL we install here will only work here, but if you can clarify what you have in mind I’d be happy to make a recommendation. Also, in case it wasn’t clear, you’re welcome to host your custom domain here with any paid hosting plan.
