SSL Issue
-
Hello,
We are migrating an existing site to WordPress. My IT team have advised to just point the A record to the WordPress IP, because we dont want to move our email etc so they dont want me to touch the named servers. Every time I update the IP address and go to the new WP I get a security warning because there is no SSL. Do I just need to wait for the SSL to come into effect or will that not work because I am only changing the A record? Do I have to update the named servers in order to the WordPress supplied SSL?
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hey there,
We will certainly provision an SSL certificate for your domain even when connecting via A Records. This is done automatically and can take a couple of hours to complete. In some cases, there is an issue connecting the SSL certificate, and we can manually issue a new one.
It looks like the domain is not connected currently, please ensure the domain is connected following the instructions outlined here:
If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. If you cannot use the recommended method, this guide will show you how to connect your domain using A records (IP addresses). About This Method This guide will show you how to connect a domain to your WordPress.com site using root A & CNAME records. This means: Your domain willOnce connected, let us know and we can take a look to make sure the SSL certificate is set up correctly.
Hope this helps!
