  Hi there,

  If you buy your domain separately from the WordPress plan, you need to connect it to your WordPress.com site. The following guidelines will help you set them up https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  The SSL certificate addition will then automatically proceed shortly after the connecting of domain, which may usually takes up 72 hours for the domain-site mapping to take effect. https://wordpress.com/support/domains/https-ssl/#why-is-my-site-missing-an-ssl-certificate.
