SSL to mapped domains

Does WP have a problem with adding SSL to mapped domains? I am having problems with Edublogs. Do links give security problems in Word Press? I’d like to know before I set up a new site. Can anyone help?

Hi there, we’d be happy to help. If you’re using our name servers and the domain is mapped here as primary, you’ll have an SSL certificate for it. It’s usually provisioned within a few hours.
Can you clarify what you mean though by links giving security problems?

So my latest blog was at https://eariblog.edublogs.org/neari-network-for-educational-action-research-in-ireland/nearimeet-24-april-2020/ and lots of people could not connect to the URL. They got messages about this connection not being safe and potential security threat at http://www.eari.ie (our domain).
I contacted Edublogs who were helpful and said they were ‘forcing SSL on Edublogs.org blogs so if your link is shared as eariblog.edublogs.org it will redirect them to the https:// URL which is why you see the security message’. They said to use http://www.eari.ie/neari-network-for-educational-action-research-in-ireland/nearimeet-24-april-2020/ which does work.
I think it is all too much hassle, I just want the thing to work and I wonder if I moved the blog to WordPress would everything work more smoothly? I would really like to be sure of SSL and an absence of security problems before I move.
Thank you

Ah okay. I’m seeing the address you gave is https://eariblog.edublogs.org/, but that automatically forwards to https://www.eari.ie/ — which is not valid. As far as I can tell, eari.ie does not have SSL. You, edublogs, and your systems folks may be able to resolve this by removing the redirect if you’re okay with that.
We’d also welcome you here. We can provide SSL for https://eari.ie/ . I don’t think https://www.eari.ie/ would work though.
Given that, how would you like to proceed?
