SSL Update
-
-
WordPress.com automatically installs SSL certificates on all WordPress.com sites. Because the SSL certificates for the domains are being added in batches, it may take up to 72 hours to add an SSL certificate to your site.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Elizazh! Once the SSL certificate is installed on my wordpress site (automatically) are there any additional steps that I need to take to secure my site & give it https status, or will it do this automatically as well?

Hi there, could you let us know the address of the website you are working on? The reason we ask for your site address is to ensure you are getting the right support for your website.
Many people who post here actually need help for their website using the WordPress open source software rather than a website hosted here on the WordPressdotcom platform.
WordPressdotcom (where we are ) and WordPress are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. You can learn more about that in our support guide at https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi Jennifer, my site is hosted on WordPress.org. Elizazh, are these same updates taking place for WordPress.org sites?
-
No, they are not, it’s pretty different actually. I would suggest that you look at the support page of WordPress.org and their forum – https://wordpress.org/support/. If you don’t have an account there you can create one for free here.
