Staff attn: Volunteer thread tagging issues

Aside from the fact that you do provide correct answers you are savvy enough not to post into threads you do not have complete and correct answers for. By analogy some new Volunteers just jump into the deep end without learning how to swim in the shallow end first.

Hello again, just to clarify and finalize my comments.
I added both the “wpcom volunteers” and “tag thread please” tags to this thread.
The first tag is a collection of forum posts I’ve participated in or run across where volunteers have made suggestions that other volunteers (including me) or Staff might find useful. The second tag is because it helps me recall where and to whom I’ve mentioned adding the “remove personal info” tag to threads where someone has added information that needs to be removed from their forum post, as I posted here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/staff-attn-volunteer-thread-tagging-issues?replies=81#post-2969230
There’s no doubt that the nature and tone of these community support forums has changed over the 10 years that I’ve been here. But the bottom line remains the same: Answer threads that you are confident you know the answer. Point the user in the right direction. Tagging has never been a requirement to participate as a volunteer in the forums. I hope, however, that I have successfully advocated here why tagging a thread is beneficial to everyone.

Ooo… NOW it hits me that I can click on wpcom volunteers for back info. Thanks, @justjennifer. :) I guess I needed you to spell that out for me.
@timethief Thanks, that is what I try to do – but then still find myself in deeper waters than I thought. Thank goodness for the modlook tag when I think I’m heading the wrong way. Maybe I should just tag TimethiefHelp! ;)
