STAFF HELP REQUIRED Expired domain, departed employee had sole access to wp.com admin panel

    slwofa.com is part of HomeServe, of which I am an employee in the digital department.

    A former employee purchased slwablog.com and hosted a site with WordPress.com at it. The domain has now expired. I have credentials for the WordPress admin only, which is inaccessible because wp.com doesn’t support visits by IP address. I need to prove I’m the legitimate user of this hosting account and regain access. We wish to rehome this blog at blog.slwofa.com. I do have access to the DNS records for slwofa.com. Can you please help? Thanks.

    If you have the transaction IDs from charges on this account, you can use the Account Recovery form to prove ownership of the site, then WordPress.com support can help you from there. You can find that form here:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

    Just fill out as much information as you have including an email address where Support can get in touch. The transaction ID will be on your bank statement as WordPress followed by a letter/number code. They’ll look like this:

    WordPress XXXXXXXXXX

    Hello –

    Thank you for this guidance. It took a few days to find the right credit card statement, but I found it today.

    Unfortunately I’m getting the following message when I submit that form. due to the domain having expired:

    Sorry but the website you gave does not exist on WordPress.com. Is it a self-hosted WordPress.org website?

    It’s unclear if the form submitted anyway, but the reason why the site can’t be found is not because it’s not hosted on wp.com, but because the domain has expired (which triggered this request in the first place).
