Staging and Migrating Website

    Hi,

    I am new to WordPress and I had few queries. My client’s current website and domain are hosted on GoDaddy and now he wants to create a new website on WordPress. Before he does that, he wants to do a staging to preview and make changes . So my question is – How do I stage a website for testing on WordPress with the GoDaddy domain name without affecting the live website? Or should I create a dummy and stage it.

    Hi there, you’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

    You’ll get to choose an underlying subdomain when you sign up, then you can attach the real domain to that.

    I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
    https://wordpress.com/plans

    Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain.
