Staging site changes not appearing on live site (live chat support is gone?!)

  • Unknown's avatar

I created a staging site to try out some design tweaks and now want to implement those changes on our live site. I have twice completed a staging to production synchronization and the live site stills appears exactly as it did (i.e. none of the changing on the staging site appear on the live site).

But more concerning to me is that WordPress.com seems to have gotten rid of its live tech support chat, which is the main reason we opted to go with WordPress last year when launching new websites!! I am beyond disgusted that they have gotten rid of live tech support for paying customers. This is exactly the type of problem I have previously used live tech support chat to address, and was always impressed with their ability to get my issues resolved. Now I don’t know why we’ve wasted money on WordPress.com for a worsening customer experience.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

I created a staging site to try out some design tweaks and now want to implement those changes on our live site. I have twice completed a staging to production synchronization and the live site stills appears exactly as it did (i.e. none of the changing on the staging site appear on the live site).

Can you share more details of the modifications so we can check them from our side? I understand that the synchronization “worked” without issues nor error messages but the changes didn’t seem to apply, is that correct?

If you recall it, can you share as well when did you do the last synchronization?

But more concerning to me is that WordPress.com seems to have gotten rid of its live tech support chat, which is the main reason we opted to go with WordPress last year when launching new websites!! I’m sorry that you feel that way. The live chat hasn’t disappeared per se, however the system has changed so the interactions are better prioritized in an organic way. Depending on the issue you can still be connected to one of our Engineers synchronously (as it happened with chat). This new system aims to improve our support rather than empoverish it.

I will await for your answers for further troubleshooting :)

Thank you for your reply! Yes, that’s correct that the synchronizations were both “completed” without any error message or other reported issue. The first was done last week, either Thursday or Friday. The second was done this morning, about 70 minutes ago. I know it’s not an issue of simply the cache in the browser not yet updating.

The changes are design tweaks to font style and size, layout, new image,

Here are a couple screen grabs from the staging site to compare to the live site to see what I mean.

Hi, thank you for the reply and help.
Yes, that’s correct that both synchronizations “worked” without any error message or other report issue. Got the email both times saying “All set! Your production site has been successfully synchronized”. The first was done last week on Thursday or Friday. The second sync was done this morning, about 90 minutes ago.

The changes are number huge things, it’s a number of little things, like changing heading font, text size, layout changes, replacing an image, resizing an image, etc.

Here are two screengrabs from the staging site so you can see some of the changes as compared to the live site:

  • Hi there,
