Staging sites

Hi, We are building a new website in 2 stages.
We would initially like to put a few pages up while we work on a bigger version of the site which will take some time and need to be reviewed by various people before publishing. What is the best way to to this with wordpress.com?

I’ve read this article but it doesn’t really offer a solution. Could we possibly start a second subscription for the new site, then transfer it to the existing domain when it’s ready?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hey there,

Absolutely; you’d just contact support when you’re ready and we can help you move the domain to the new site. You’d have a free address to work with in the meantime.

Let us know if you need more help!

    Thanks for your reply.
Basic question, but does it mater what domain I choose for my new staging site, if the original domain name will be switched to the new site?
And are your price plans per domain – so I would need to set up a new business subscription if I want to use plugins in my new staging site?

    Many thanks

No, it doesn’t matter. In fact, you don’t even have to register a domain, just use the free .wordpress.com address on your staging site.

Yes, plans are per site. You have to get a Business plan for every site that you want to create.
