Staging to live

    Hi,

    I started to make pages in WordPress via Elementor for the url: http://www.ipurai.nl.

    While working on the pages, I noticed that somehow the domain was purainl.wpcomstaging.com in stead of ipurai.nl

    I have hosting via a 3th party (Vimexx) and I want to get the pages live. What are the steps to follow? It seems like there is mismatch between the wordpress domain and the domain I bought and is hosted in Vimexx. Because after installing wordpress in Vimexx, I see a ‘my blog’ page of wordpress.

    Could somebody please advise?

    Hey Dennis!

    So a staging website is a testing environment for you to work in freely without any risk to your live website. When you began the staging website, there was a notice on the screen that it would be a wpcomstaging.com domain, to keep them separate!

    The staging website cannot be put live without a plugin, and I’m not sure how that interacts with each individual 3rd party host. Because the host is dutch I can’t even read into it for you, but I would think this is actually a question for Vimexx, as they may have their own process.

    Mijn nederlands is niet zo goed, omdat ik Canadees ben.

    But I am learning!

    http://www.ipurai.nl/ and http://ipurainl.wpcomstaging.com/ are 2 complete different sites. Your site ipurai.nl isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform and uses the open source wordpress.org; http://ipurainl.wpcomstaging.com/ is running on the wordpress.com platform. Both sites are in no way connected or connectable to each other. In fact you don’t need http://ipurainl.wpcomstaging.com/ if you are building your site on http://www.ipurai.nl/

    Thank you very much for reaching out. To clarify, do you intend for the domain ipurai.nl to load your site that you are creating here at WordPress.com (ipurainl.wpcomstaging.com)? If so, I do see that the domain ipurai.nl is connected to your site, but it doesn’t look like you’ve updated it’s name servers to point to your WordPress.com site yet, if that’s what you want to do: https://wordpress.com/site-profiler/ipurai.nl.

    If you do want the domain ipurai.nl to load your site/content here, you’ll need to update the name servers to ours for it to begin working:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    Once you’ve done that (and the changes have propagated), you can mark ipurai.nl as the primary address for your site so that it displays in browsers when it loads as detailed here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/
