Star ratings disappeared

  Standard PollDaddy ratings stars have disappeared overnight from my Twenty Eleven themed blog. Tried with latest versions of FF, Chrome and IE. All caches and cookies cleared. Still no luck. Any advice?

  Hi!

  Can you point me to where the poll is currently living on your site? I didn’t see one on the homepage. Once I can take a closer look at the poll in action, I’ll be able to troubleshoot further!

  My apologies – I’ve probably been unclear. I’m referring to the 5 stars rating option that accompanies every post and page as standard (when enabled in settings). They suddenly disappeared after 3 months in operation and settings still say they’re enabled.

  Currently, they aren’t selected to display on either individual blog posts or front page and archive pages:

  

  Can you check the blog post option and see if the ratings appear on individual post pages?

  Hi. Done. Sorry – I unchecked, saved, rechecked a couple of times yesterday to see if that helped. They must have stayed unchecked after the last run.

  They’re all checked and saved now – and after cache-clear and two browser tests I’m still not seeing stars :/

  Hi!

  I apologize for the mixup. On solvangpark.com, it looks like you have sharing buttons disabled on your posts. The ratings currently only display if you have the WordPress.com Like button enabled on your posts. Did you recently turn off the “Like” button across your blog? You would do that from your Sharing settings here:

  Ah… getting closer to an answer now – thanks! My readers are not generally a very SoMe-savvy crowd so I’ve removed sharing buttons and WP-likes from the posts, but kept the star-ratings. That worked fine for a few months, but now apparently ratings only appear if you also have sharing-buttons or WP-likes activated. Is this a WP-change or a Theme-change?

  It looks like this may have been a WP change as it appears to work the same across all themes. Basically, the Ratings are held in the same container as the other sharing buttons. If you turn off all of the sharing functions (Likes and buttons), the container isn’t display, which removes the Ratings function. In order for the Ratings to appear, you will need to make sure either the WP Like button or the sharing buttons are enabled on a post.
