    Hi there!

Are you trying to map the domain sacredgroveswc.org to your current WordPress.com site sacredgroveswc.wordpress.com?

If so, you can do this through your dashboard at Store > My Domains. Just click on ‘Map A Domain You Already Own.’

Once that’s set up, you’ll need to change your nameservers to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

If you don’t know how to do this, you’ll need to contact your registrar for assistance.

If you do not need the WordPress.com site sacredgroveswcdotorg.wordpress.com, you can delete it by following these directions:

    Delete a Website

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

I followed the instructions and replaced the nameservers at gandi.net. My webpage now is accessed properly, but my email to that domain is ending up in the email for the address on the wordpress account, which is on yahoo.

I tried changing the email address to the one for the domain I own but have not received a confirmation letter, even to the yahoo domain.

I don’t think I have used (email visible only to moderators and staff) to start a wordpress account, and if I did, I would be happy to close it in favor of changing this account’s address.

I believe I have deleted the site sacredgroveswcdotorg.wordpress.com. Please inform me if I am wrong.

    Hi there!

Great. I’m glad you got the domain working!

It looks like you’ve set up email forwarding for the address (email visible only to moderators and staff). This will take any emails sent to that address and forward them to an email address you already use, like a Gmail address.

If you’d like to set up email hosting instead, you’ll need to purchase hosting through an email host. Here’s some information about various email hosts and instructions on setting them up:

Let me know if I can answer any other questions!

I already pay for up to 5 mailboxes at gandi.net, where I purchased the @sacredgroveswc.org domain name. My email program looks to their imap.mail.gandi.net server for my email. That stopped working when I followed your instructions to name the dn1.wordpress.com netservers for the website. Now all my email goes to the email address you have for my account.

I am trying to change that email address to my domain name, but that change is not going through.

I don’t wish to purchase email hosting that I already am paying for at gandi.net. I just want the mapping to it to work, which it does not after I followed the WordPress instructions. Please help me correct this.

You’ll need to set the DNS records for your mail hosting with gandhi.net. Here are some instructions on doing so:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-other-email/

It looks like this might give you the information you need from gandhi.net:

    http://wiki.gandi.net/en/mail/troubleshooting#your-domain-does-not-use-gandi-s-dns

If you’re having trouble formatting any of your MX records, just let me know! I’m happy to help out!

The wordpress/ link is one I had tried. The WordPress software will not let me add or change the A record (as the example shows). I could add CNAME records, but they did followed a *.(domainname) record and were probably ignored, and there was no way to delete the existing record. I could format the MX records correctly.

Now, the wiki link looked to be right on with describing the problem, but, again, the software would not cooperate.

Your domain does not use Gandi’s DNS

If you’re using external name servers, that is where your zone file lives, and that provider probably has their own mail servers set up in your zone file instead of Gandi’s.

If your email stops working after you switch to another DNS, that is probably why.

There are two solutions to this.

If you want to use Gandi Mail while keeping the DNS of your current provider, then you will need to contact them and have them change your MX records to the following:

    @ 10800 IN MX 10 spool.mail.gandi.net.
    @ 10800 IN MX 50 fb.mail.gandi.net.
If they do this, your Gandi Mail will work with your nameservers there.

Otherwise, you can switch to Gandi’s DNS.

I don’t know enough to translate their format to the options available in WordPress, which won’t let me override the MX record in place, in any case.

Is it possible to switch to Gandi’s DNS while still using the WordPress facilities? If so, can you direct me in redirecting the nameservers?

The best way to set up WordPress.com as your website and Gandhi.net as your mail is to have the name servers pointed at WordPress.com and set up your MX records.

I’ve added those two MX records to your domain settings. Please let me know if your email is not working within 2 days!

Your message just came through on @sacredgroveswc.org. So that must have been the key. Thanks very much!!! Along with 1000 more emails caught up in the block.

    Back to work for me.
