  We’re looking at redoing our current website. Don’t know whether we can amend the existing or start again.
  Can I leave my website where it is, then create the new one, and when its ready switch them over?

  Hi there,

  I’m guessing the current website is on its own domain, hosted at another provider or under a different WordPress.com account, correct?

  If you want to create the new site here on WordPress.com, you can build it on the free example.wordpress.com address we provide, and then only switch the domain over to this new site once you’re ready to take the current one offline.

  If you want to create the new site at your existing host, I recommend you contact their support to find out if your hosting plan perhaps allows more than one site, or if they provide a staging environment you can use to make changes without affecting the live site until you’re ready.
