start new post with predefined blogpost template

    Hi,

I wonder if it’s possible to have “new post” not show a blank textarea, but a template which has been predefined before. As of know I save my posting template as a draft, and have to copy it by hand for every new post. Would be sooooo helpful to have a posting template with some structural and layout information already!

Any idea how to get this?

    Thanks

You can’t pre-populate the new post page in WordPress.com, but that’s something you could customize in WordPress.org if you wanted to.

But I’d recommend something like Texter or TextExpander for that.

    Hi,
I’d like some clarification, please. designsimply posted that you could pre-populate a new post using WordPress.org. Does this mean that in order to do this, my blog must be hosted using my own URL and not myblog.wordpress.com? I went to the WordPress.org and downloaded WordPress 2.9.2, and the installation instructions seemed to indicate this.
    Thanks!

Yes, you will have to host your own site in order to use WordPress.org software.
Here is an article that details the differences between wp.org and wp.com:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
