  You can either do this yourself or you can ask the staff to empty your site.

  Note: Please keep in mind this action is permanent.

  If you want to do it yourself, you can delete all of your content from your site and still keep your current WordPress.com address by performing the following steps:

  • Delete all posts
  • Delete all pages
  • Delete all categories
  • Delete all tags
  • Delete all media

  If you want to have the staff do this, please add the modlook tag in the right column. You will need to be logged in to the user account you created the site with, confirm the URL of the site you would like them to empty, and that you understand this action is permanent.

  As a Free wordpress.COM user of the Free Dyad theme I do not have any of the menu options you show in your above post. How is it possible to delete Categories? I have googled and read for three days straight trying to figure this out. The dashboard options on my site are limited and do not allow me to directly access category menu (or media menu and tags menu for that matter). I must first access the “customize” button next to Theme and then select the Widgets/Footer menu. There I am only able to add more categories but not delete the misspelled or irrelevant ones. The widget allows for a pull down menu of categories and shows all categories even if no posts or pages are attributed to those categories I do not want showing. I have deleted the category widget option, changed themes, deleted posts and pages and reposted and still those “dang” bad categories keep popping up. I am at the end of my rope and decided to try to try start over however when I click that option the contact info does not show up for support. The page doesn’t load for me to contact anyone. I have to then select HELP which brings me to the forum for help. I don’t even have the option to delete the whole site and start again because the contact support page won’t load for me.
